The new run...

Despite my productive run on Friday and my recovery day on Saturday, Sunday turned out to be a disappointment. I'm still learning about what I need best for fueling and how long before I run, etc., and I knew I screwed up. I had breakfast, but then amidst a flurry of distractions, I waited too long. I knew it, and I still went out. Needless to say, my big 8-mile run turned into 2.5 miles before I had to head home because I felt too weak and hungry. Bah. A nice 2-hour-ish hike in Callahan State Park made up for it later that day. I suppose.
This morning, since it was back to the regular work schedule, I tried out my new 4-mile morning loop. It was actually perfect! I was able to shave a minute off and finish in 37:01. Sadly, I'm still slow, but I'm improving. I keep telling myself this.
So that's where things stand. I think I'll attempt that 8-miler around Wednesday so that I can still run the 10-miler this weekend. I'm super psyched for my half-marathon in 2 weeks. This will only be my second one, but I'm very excited about finally being able to run something in Boston. It'll still be a training event for me; I'm not expecting anything spectacular, but I'm hoping to hit 2 hours. I have a sneaking suspicion it might end up being more like 2:10, but I'm really hoping for 2 or under. I have realistic goals at this point :)
